We develop guidelines concerning waste management in Poltava
07.12.2022In late October 2022, «Ekoltava» has started on guidelines concerning the development of municipal waste management system in Poltavska urban territorial hromada. This system particularly embraces the management of large-size waste, debris, and green cuttings.
The work is undertaken by research team of NGO «Ekoltava» and involved national experts, in response to address from communal enterprise CMTE-1628 and under support from the project «Integrated development of cities in Ukraine ІІ» by German association for international cooperation (GIZ).
Among the issues under expert attention are the definition of morphological composition of municipal waste from Poltavska hromada, the analysis of waste generation rates, the ascertainment of main sources of large-size waste, debris, and green cuttings, and the production of generalized guidelines concerning the development of municipal waste management system in Poltavska urban territorial hromada and compensatory mechanisms for gaps in price rates.
Due to russian aggression against Ukraine, a lot of internally displaced persons have moved to Poltava throughout the year, so the amount of generated waste, and ecological tax, and fuel prices have respectively risen. In order to escape environmental calamities in the town and the halt of the communal enterprise, experts from «Ekoltava» propose to review the approaches to pricing for waste removal and rules of its collection by setting forth some compensatory mechanisms.
