LEAPs (Local Plans on Environment and Energy) – a project launched by international ecological civil organization Regional Environmental Center (REC). In Ukraine it runs in Poltava, Cherkasy and Ivano-Frankivs’k.
Its first phase was quizzing citizens of Poltava and adjacent suburbs about state of environment, held in spring. It embraced 2400 respondents; after the results processed three main problems were defined: salvaging wastes, quality of roads and potable water. On the 20th of May, 2015 a training for local authorities, scholars, entrepreneurs and civil activists was held basing on the quiz. A crew was formed which would work out the Action Plan for Poltava. A ready-made project is presented in October, 2015 for involving the investors. More information about REC and their projects is available on official website.
